Hello,

My continued thanks to you all for visiting my site every so often. Some updated news which I'm happy to report is that I was recently accepted into the doctoral program at Boston University School of Education. I'm pretty excited, but of course a little overwhelmed. My research will hopefully have a performing arts focus, but time will tell. Wishing you all the best in 2008

I never use this news feature enought, but I'm going to give it a go! Below is a communication from my latest project. Hope it provides some addtional details. Thanks all!

B.
===========================

Hi Friends,

This is a 'heads-up' for an outstanding musical event. Basically Broadway is not running it and has nothing to do with ticket sales (see info below to purchase tickets), but is featured with the orchestra. We've already had rehearsals with the Orchestra conductor and will have another rehearsal with the full orchestra next week. After hearing our rehearsals, I think that if you enjoy Broadway and light classical music, you'll love this program. Both groups are very professional and the soloists, who will be backed up by our ensemble, are superb. (directions to the church at the end of this email)

Sumner
----------------------------------------------
Concert Notes:

Spring Pops Concert in Norwood on March 12, 2006 at 3:00 pm
featuring "Basically Broadway"

The Parkway Concert Orchestra will present its Spring Pops Concert featuring the outstanding Newton-based chorus, Basically Broadway at the First Congregational Church, Norwood, on Sunday, March 12th at 3 p.m. The church is located at 100 Winter Street, Norwood.

Lawrence Isaacson conducts the 50 piece concert orchestra in classical and pops selections, including Holst's Jupiter and Mars from The Planets, Sleeping Beauty Waltz and Clear Track Polka by Strauss. The orchestra is delighted to welcome special guest group 'Basically Broadway', a 75-member Broadway choral ensemble lead by music director Barbara Brilliant. They will be performing medleys from The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady and Phantom of the Opera.

Tickets are $15; $12 for seniors and $10 for children under 12 years. There are a small number of tickets left so be sure to reserve them as soon as possible.
Well, the event has come and gone, and it was a very special experience. New Rep did a wonderful job putting the event together. We had a sold out theater and one of the most enthusiastic audiences a performer could wish for. Everyone pulled out all the stops and the performances were spectacular. Kudos to the team and to New Rep for a job well done. Here’s to many years of great theater.
